Pricing Model: Dimensional (volume)

Dimensional — price per volume, sold in pieces. The three-dimensional sibling of the Sheet model: you price by volume and consume whole pieces.

When to use it

• Timber billets and turning blanks.
• Resin or wax blocks cast to a size.
• Foam blocks, blanks and any stock bought by volume.

piece volume (m³) = width × height × length — converted to metres first

cost per piece = price × piece volume

As with Sheet, Price is per cubic metre and CrafterBy multiplies. Entering the price of one block will overstate your costs dramatically, because a block is a small fraction of a cubic metre.

Example. Walnut at 2,400 per m³, blanks of 80 mm × 80 mm × 300 mm → volume 0.00192 m³ → 4.61 per blank.
